Virtual Posters - Call for Abstracts
You are invited to submit abstracts for the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) 2025 Thematic Conference, Advances in Research & Practice: 80 is the New 50 – Staying Well as We Age, taking place on January 31, 2025, in Toronto, ON.
CNS offers this opportunity for conference attendees, including students and trainees, to showcase their nutrition-focused research on Healthy Aging through virtual poster presentations. Presenters are not required to submit original or unpublished research and may present recent posters. Encore Abstracts (those that have been submitted elsewhere or previously published) will be accepted for consideration. Abstracts will not be published in the Journal of APNM and are not eligible for awards.
Accepted abstracts will be displayed digitally via the CNS Virtual Poster Expo. There will be no physical poster boards at the Thematic Conference.
Important: Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must register for the full conference. At a minimum, virtual registration is required, though in-person attendance is optional. Authors will not be compensated for expenses including registration fees, travel, meals, or hotel costs.

IMPORTANT DATES & DETAILS
December 4, 2024 – 11:59PM ET - All abstracts must be submitted by this deadline. After this time, the submission tool will be locked, and no further edits or submissions will be possible. Draft or in-progress abstracts must be submitted by this deadline. There will be no late-breaking submission period.
- Abstract Topic should be relevant to Healthy Aging.
- Only current CNS members in good standing are eligible to submit abstracts. NOTE: If joining/renewing your CNS membership - Graduate and Undergraduate students will need to upload specific documentation to verify eligibility. Approval will take up to one business day. - A $40 non-refundable submission fee applies (Visa or MasterCard payments only). This fee will not be refunded under any circumstances (e.g., if your abstract is not accepted or if you fail to attend the conference). This fee is separate from the conference registration fee, which will be required for presenting authors.

December 14, 2024 - Authors will receive their abstract review results via an email from CNS-SCN Thematic 2025. The email will have the subject line 'CNS-SCN Thematic 2025 Participation Request' and will include further instructions for accepted authors.
January 6, 2025 - Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must log into their unique abstract portal to confirm whether they accept or decline the opportunity to participate in the Poster Expo. Authors who do not respond or decline will be removed from the abstract program. The abstract submission fee will not be refunded.
January 8, 2025 - Early-bird registration deadline for all conference attendees. Authors are encouraged to register by this date to take advantage of discounted rates.
January 17, 2025 - Deadline for all presenting authors to register for the CNS Thematic Conference. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts must register for the full conference. At a minimum, virtual registration is required, though in-person attendance is optional. Those who do not register by January 17 2025 will be removed from the abstract program.
January 20, 2025 - A poster in PDF format, along with a 50-word summary introducing or describing the content, must be uploaded to the CNS Virtual Poster Expo through the presenting author’s unique abstract portal. Additionally, it is mandatory to embed a YouTube or Vimeo code for a short video (maximum 3 minutes) explaining the poster’s content. Instructions for uploading these materials will be provided in the participation request email.
January 27, 2025 – The Virtual Poster Expo will be launched for early viewing by conference delegates and will remain available until February 14, 2025. There will be options for authors to engage with delegates via chat, email, or virtual/on-site meetings.

REQUIRED ABSTRACT FORMAT
Please note that abstracts that do not follow the required format (detailed below) may be returned to the author for revision or rejected. The abstract submission fee is non-refundable.
- Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting author ONLY.
- Presenting authors must submit using the email address associated with their CNS membership profile.
- Titles: Only capitalize the first word in the abstract title (other than proper nouns).
- Authors: Presenting authors must be listed FIRST in the list of authors. Authors' first and last names must be spelled out in full.
- Co-Authors: Co-Authors are listed in the order that they should appear on the poster. Affiliation of co-authors must be completed in full, including Department, Institution, City, Province/State (abbreviated), Postal Code, and Country.
- Abstracts must not exceed 350 words (excluding the abstract heading) and must be written in English. This word limit includes any funding information.
- Use standard abbreviation. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parenthesis after the full word when it appears for the first time.
- Financial support should be indicated in brackets at the end of the abstract.
- DO NOT include sub-headings, charts or tables in your abstract. This level of detail is not used to evaluate the merit of your abstract.
- Errors, misspellings and incorrect abbreviations will NOT be corrected.
